I love this kid. The kind of love that only Mothers know.
But man, he can talk. And ask questions. Which is ok because how can you learn if you don’t ask questions?
But seriously, there’s a line. When he loudly asks ‘Mum, why is that lady so fat?’ in the supermarket, now that is crossing it. He still asks again even with his flame faced mother hissing at him to be quiet.
Or when we’re in the car and he asks where each car we pass is going to. My repeated answer of ‘I don’t know’ is apparently unbelievable. Mum’s are meant to know everything, didn’t you know?
But then some questions he asks make me want to scoop him up in a big Mummy bear hug… such as his question this morning ‘Mum, will you and Daddy come and pick me up from kinda together?’. (Jem is home today for the first time since he really started his job, and it’s the first time in months he has been here on a week day to pick up the kids). When we arrived he excitedly squealed to one of the carers ‘My Mum and Dad came together!’.
Then he will sometimes just comes out with little gems for his Mum:
‘Mum, you know you’re very pretty’
‘Mum, I love Noah and Mummy and Daddy’
‘Mum I picked you a flower because it makes you very happy!’
Or my personal favourite:
‘Mum I ate all my dinner because it makes Mummy and Daddy happy!’ :)
So even though there is never a minute’s silence around here, I don’t mind. His thirst for knowledge is something I don’t want to extinguish by asking him to be quiet.
Ask and chatter away my precious Man :)
Week 2 of OEKS is featuring Pavinee from MerryDay
Here’s the quick bio:
Hello! My name is Pavinee. I am a freelance graphic designer. I work mostly on book design but if you could look at my sketchbooks, I think you would tell how much I love to draw cute, whimsical things! After spending a couple of years browsing, admiring and buying some beautiful things on Etsy, I realized that I wanted to become a part of such inspiring community too. It would be a great way to improve my skill in both design and illustration while hopefully earning some extra money ;-)
MerryDay is a shop featuring cute, whimsical paper goods. All illustration come from my everyday doodles, drawn, colored and put together in various design formats. You can find my cute drawings on prints, cards, bookplates, gift tags and all stationery set. I will continue making more things that make you smile and enjoy your merry day!
Seriously how cute are those book plates?! I wish I had a girl to buy them for!
This little tulip girl is my definitely my fave…
And check out the little girls birthday cards:
So sweet hey?! Well I’m also partial to these mini cards…

Today my Wee Man was not keen on his afternoon nap. Several attempts at laying him down and walking out were met with screaming. So I laid him down and sat on the other bed in his room so he knew I was still there. After about 15 minutes it began to work and his eyes were starting to close.
I was getting a bit impatient by this stage and decided to make my escape from the room without him seeing me. The only way I could do this was to crawl past his cot, below his eye level. So I leaned forward very slowly, wincing at the creaking noise from the bed I was sitting on. Eventually I ended up on my hands a knees and began to slowly crawl towards the door. I was about half way there when it struck me how ridiculous I must have looked.
Seriously. This is how desperate mothers can get for the semi-freedom while their child naps (I call this semi-freedom because real freedom is not spent folding clothes or packing the dishwasher). They are willing to crawl from their child’s room to ensure themselves that moments peace!
Well, I don’t care how I looked crawling from Noah’s room. I got 1 hour of total quiet when I had both children asleep and that is priceless!
And what a shop to kick things off!
Please welcome Meredith from Sheepish Knitting and Crochet!
Here’s a quick bio:
Hi! My name is Meredith. I decided to learn to knit after I read a certain, bestselling knitting novel….haha. Predictable, huh? Well, I bought some supplies and sat down in front of the all-knowing entity that is YouTube. Believe it or not after watching MANY videos about casting on, purling, and binding off, I finally got the hang of it. I had no idea how deeply I would fall in love with this craft. Later, I taught myself to crochet, and became completely addicted! It is now one year later and this quiet, (some may say sheepish) girl is using yarn to find her voice.
My Sheepish shop features original knit and crochet accessories. Each item represents my attention to detail and classic style with a unique twist. I find inspiration everyday (you should see my “idea” notebook) and I am constantly adding new products! I am happy to make custom items and I ship internationally! Feel free to contact me at any time!
I love this shop! Chunky knits are my thing, seeing as I hate cold! But my favourite item by far is this adorable iphone case!
I think if you love your iphone, you should definitely treat it to this case!
Meredith also does some awesome wrist warmers
And funky bright scarves
Seriously, this shop is a great new find. And from the emails I’ve had from Meredith she seems like a really great person!
You can find her shop here
And her blog here
Do go and have a peep!
Thanks for being the first Etsy Kick Start Feature Meredith!

Just a few quick photos of our big day out yesterday…
Aus in a ‘weeceman’ car The family
Saluting the Chief Commissioner, Getting his badge, Getting his award
The graduation dinner.
We’re totally exhausted after a whirlwind couple of days but filled with excitement for the future! Thanks so much for all the lovely comments on the last post, they are much appreciated :)
Also a huge Happy Birthday to my beautiful sister for yesterday as well! xx
We’re there! We made it, I made it and he made it.
I have basically been a single parent for 6 months and now I am so looking forward to living as a family again
Single parents out there, I salute you. It’s tough, like pull chunks of your hair out tough. I couldn’t have asked for a more supportive family though and it almost makes me cry to think of all the help I’ve received from loved ones along the way. Quite seriously I know I would never have made it without them.
After all that, tomorrow the love of my life will march out to collect his badge and become a Police Officer. Not only that, he will also collect an award and be presented with a watch engraved with his service number. So to say I am proud is a huge understatement. I think I’m going to bawl my eyes out and burst with pure glee at the same time.
Jem,
Congratulations my Darling! I love you so much and I’m unbelievably proud of your achievements. The boys will be so excited to see Daddy march out in uniform to be a ‘weeceman’. Well done babe, you’re amazing!
Love, George xx
Wish us luck!
This is happening at my house right now
After so many long years of drought I fear we need to do some water proofing around the home. I sat down to my jewellery this evening and all of a sudden it was raining on my face. That definitely should NOT happen indoors.
I’m pretty sure rain is meant to be on the OUTSIDE of the glass. We like to do things differently here :)
So I’ve done all I could do… put some towels and buckets down.
There were a few very loud cracks of thunder so I went in to see if Aus was ok in bed (Noah could sleep through anything). He was busy watching the lightening out his window and when asked if he was ok, he yelled ‘Whoa did you see that one Mum!? That was so cool!’ So I left him to his lightening watching.
Then the lights went out. Thank god it was only for about 10 seconds, then they came back on. But I went to check on him again and he said ‘I’m only a little bit scared Mum’. So I assured him that if the lights go out again I will come straight to him. My big brave boy. (who incidentally doesn’t wear nappies to bed anymore! Yay!)
I’m off to snuggle in my big warm bed, guess we’ll assess the damage in the morning!
I made these two hair ‘accessories’ this weekend to perhaps wear to Jem’s grad ball on Friday night. But I’m unsure if I even like them or which one I want to wear.
This is the headband with pinkish/cream coloured freshwater pearls
And this is the clip with silk ribbon and brown/purpleish freshwater pearls
So what do we think? Ditch them and buy something pretty, or one above the other? The colour of the clip is the same as the trimmings of the dress and the headband is the same colour as the main body of the dress.
Eeep… I just don’t know.
I also made these little flowers to go on my shoes, they will spruce them up to formal standard I hope.
I haven’t been to anything this formal since my high school formal about 5 or 6 years ago. And in that time I’ve had 2 children so I’m not too hopeful that I will look exactly the same as I did last time :) But at least I’m giving it a go… with belly sucking in undies!
Ok off the track from belly suckers, we went to my best friend’s little girls birthday today. What a day for a 1st birthday party…
Our driveway has looked like this all week, which is very unusual and has only happened a couple of times in the last 4 years. If you look closely you’ll see hail.
Here’s what I made for the little cherub anyway,
Not a great photo but I was pushed for time and still had to wrap them up. They’ll look so pretty up on her wall!
I’m hoping the weather will be fine by Friday, otherwise we’ll have to stand out in the cold and wind to watch Jem march. I’ll still be excited to watch him get his badge, he’s done so well and we’re really proud of him! Can’t wait!!
