Spiderman!

Spiderman cake 2

Excuse the photos, it was dark when I managed to get a snap of the cake I made for my Big Boy for his 3rd birthday! Cakes and I usually don't mix so well, but this time it co-operated and I was able to make it look at least a bit like Spiderman, Aus recognised his anyway!

Spiderman cake 1

I had to put licorice around his eyes because it was so hot that the white fudge icing eyes started to melt off the side of his face!

Aus was pretty excited to have his cake:

I also used food dye to colour the inside of the cake red. Aus thought it was exciting to eat red cake!

A great time was had by all with a BBQ at Lake Charm with all our nearest and dearest in attendance. Aus was of course smothered with presents, all very exciting for 5 minutes before the next one was opened. He's a very lucky boy :)
I thought I'd leave you with a great photo of my smallest's gorgeous big blue eyes!
Hope you had a fabulous weekend!

What happens when husbands cook....

This was what came out of the oven for dinner a few nights ago... would you bet on a male being the chef? :) Hopeless.

Anyway I'm feeling a bit better now, just slow with lack of sleep.
I had a horrible day with a whiny, tantrum throwing 2 yr old yesterday and I was determined it wasn't going to happen today. We needed to do something calming together and I had an idea for a new chart to help us with toilet training, as stickers just don't seem to be cutting it anymore (even if they are Thomas the Tank).
Some foam shapes, felt numbers and letters and sticky velcro dots were called for...

And of course buttons to finish it off...

Ta da! We now have a system where he gets to stick a number up every time he goes to the toilet. If he gets all 5 on there in one day it's ice cream after dinner, or go to the park, or a bubble bath or whatever he so desires. So far it's working, number 1 and 2 are already up for today... and best of all no wet pants!
Ah...

Lots going on!! Pics galore!

Phew, it's been an action packed week here last week. On Thursday night we went bowling with friends and family for Aus's 2nd birthday. His birthday isn't until tomorrow but some friends were going on holiday and my brother and sister were both going to be at uni so we brought it forward a little bit. :)

This is a friend's little bundle, Aus was fascinated and wouldn't stop touching him. I think the shock of seeing Mummy with a baby was getting to him as well. He'll have to get used to that soon enough though!

Aus and Daddy relaxing between bowls.

Everyone looks so stunning in those shoes they make you wear!

Pop and my sister
This is the cake I made him, I'm totally hopeless at cake decorating. The robot's head tried to fall off as soon as I put it on, so I had to stick a knife through to hold his head up! Lol, oh well. Aus loved it and started singing happy birthday to himself as soon as it came out!

This is the inside of the cake, a very funky bright rainbow cake! And it was so yummy if I do say so myself!

We've also been trying to toilet train our precious boy... I think many mothers would agree, this is totally horrible. I think I spend most of my life at the moment sitting on the toilet floor trying to urge him to do number 1 or 2. But it makes it much better when he sits there like this:

On Saturday we went to Bendigo for my cousin's 18th. I can't drink of course so J made up for my lack with enthousiasm. On the way home we stopped for a 50c cone at MD's and this is the aftermath of the 'icecream fight' between J and my younger counsin... (that is not J real hair! He was modelling my cousin's clip in hair extensions! How horrible does it look though!)

Ok now onto craftiness...
On Sunday morning we came home and went straight to a 3 year old b'day party. It was for my boss's son and I was trying to think of a present I could make for him. My boss told me he likes puzzles so this is what I came up with:

A lined bag with his initial on the front and inside...

A puzzle of himself and his little sister. I cut it out of chip board and glued the photo on. Then I went over it with mod podge to seal it, and lastly a varnish coat all over to make sure it's kid proof. When we gave it to him at the party he sat down to do it straight away. I'm taking that as him liking it!

The shop has been doing so well- I can't thank everyone enough for purchasing my products. I hope it continues, I'm having a great time making everything!

Remember this? I've been making so many little clippies for it! Oh they're so much fun, so quick and onto the next idea. Lucky I don't have girls otherwise I'd make one of these every morning to match the outfit they were going to wear for the day! :)

Lastly yesterday I sent out all the baby toys I'd made for the Toy Society Bush Fire toys appeal. I had fun making these too and tried to make things littlies would find interesting.

Yikes! That's all folks, I need a Nanna nap after doing this post!

Pancakes... Shazza's way!

I've been around the traps, flat out trying to organise the reno plans so we can get them under way (if the bank says we can). Getting quotes for tiles and carpet, kitchens, wood heaters, etc.... Yikes! They all add up!

It's just me and Aussie at home today so when he woke up from his sleep I decided to make something special for lunch. Pancakes- the savory kind. My mum used to make them all the time after we had corned beef and use the rest of the meat. SO good! It had herbs and cheese as well. So maybe they're not a pancake, maybe we should call them patties?

Little hands always want to help and I was making a mess anyway so what the hell?!

Repeated warnings of 'hot, don't touch, burnies!' seemed to deter any fingers getting burnt. I forgot to take a pic of the finished product, I was too eager to eat!

This is the other day when we decided to go for a swim at the town pool. Don't you love the hat? It has little fluffy spiders all over it, thanks to uncle Boofa for Christmas. He knows Mummy hates spiders! Hmmm.... just wait until he's got kids.

And because some people like this sort of thing I'm posting a belly photo at 18 weeks (maybe more I keep losing where I'm up to!). It's Saturday and my face doesn't like photos on weekends. :)

Truth to tell my boobs might be nearly bigger than my belly, the only good thing about being pregnant! ;) or so hubby thinks!
