Dents and Sleeping Beautys

See that orange circle? That's the dent my darling husband (and a stump) put in our new car. Ah the dangers of going out to cut your own firewood.

Our weekend was spent out bush in the rain trying to enlarge our wood pile. Unwittingly I'd dressed Aus in dark greens and browns. So when he wandered off as soon as we got out of the car, I nearly had a heart attack because I couldn't see him. He was standing about 10m away! We soon fixed that problem:

An interesting thing happened on this little walk with my kids... I was busting to pee so we found a big tree for me to ah... you know, squat behind (wow never thought I'd be write that on my blog). Anyway, Aus was watching me and actually bent down to have a good look. He had a confused look on his face. When asked what was wrong he replied 'where's Mummy's willy gone?'. Oh. All I could come up with on the spot was 'Because Mummy's a girl'. Lame I know but how does one explain the complexities of male/female genetalia to a 2 yr old. I think I'll just leave it at that for a while! :)

To get out of the forest again was a ride and a half. It had drizzled quite a bit since we drove in and the surface of the road had become so slippery. More than once we started to slide side ways off the road. But hubby was hunched over the wheel like a mad man and he eventually steered us to freedom :)

This is what the youngest member of the family did the entire time:

Recognise the blanket Cam? :)

And basically all the time...

I am so thankful to my boys, 2 nights in a row they've given me at least 8 hours straight sleep. Of course I vault out of bed in the morning to check Noah is still breathing. He's only 2 1/2 weeks old and I'm so impressed. Of course I'm not holding my breath for tonight :)

I have been doing a little bit of crafty stuff I swear, I'll show photos soon to prove it. Mean while I'll just keep perusing your blogs to see what you guys are making :)

Your post brought back so many memories of nearly 40 years ago when we used to pack up our first baby and head up into the Grampians to collect wood. We'd often light a fire and have a BBQ for lunch. It was a real day out.
