This is my fav childrens book...

For those who don't know the little guy above, his name is Arnold, of 'Arnold the Prickly Teddy'. He has a beautiful story about not being picked off the shelf because he wasn't soft and cuddly. After a journey it turns out that all his prickles have worn off and he has someone to love him. My mum says she had to read this book to me every night at bed time. I still love Arnold and he now lives on Aussie Bob's shelf ready for when he's old enough to not rip out all the pages!

Last night was my sister's 21st birthday party. I really only have about 5 pics because the camera went flat. Good planning there. (duh) Anyway this is me and my cousin Jess (I'm the blond one). The theme was 'Bling' so I was all decked out in gold and silver. And I also had fake eye lashes on with little diamantes on, which prevented me from opening my eyes! That's why I look funny in this photo.
I also gave her the quilt I made, she loved it. I'll try to get pics of it on here soon! (Yes I did forget to take them before I gave it to her)

Hope you all had a great weekend and are ready for the week to come! Cheers

The winner and this is...

OK.......the winner is..... drums beating...... CHARLIE!! Please contact me with your email and address, I can't seem to contact you through the comment you left. J picked you because you were the only one to mention him!! Typical men! But great for you Charlie! I am putting together your prize!

A big thanks to everyone who entered my little contest, your comments were so well thought out! I'll run another one soon I promise!

Now onto 'This is ... what makes me happy':

My boys, J and Aussie Bob. J is a wonderful father and Aussie Bob will grow up much loved and played with. :) Sometimes J is like a puppy, he sees a ball and just has this burning need to go and kick it around, now Aussie Bob is showing some definite signs of the same affliction! So they make a great pair!

Honestly though, I am so happy and proud of my little family, I congratulate myself on doing a rather good job of assembling it! :)

When I was going through my photos to look for some of my boys, I came across this one. It also made me smile, though it is bitter sweet. This is Jean, my step grandmother, though she had been married to my grandfather for longer than I have been alive. So she was the only grandmother I knew on that side of the family. Last year a train crash happened in the town I live in and Jean was killed, along with many others. She was so kind, I am just very thankful and happy that she met Aussie Bob, she was so happy! I hope Jean is watching over him. :)

This is...

What scrambles my brain when I try to understand it:

I think I've got a strange one this week... I am a building designer and I work with levels on plans all the time. But I am stuffed if I can understand how surveyors take levels! My dad was a surveyor and he's tried to explain to me many times, as has my boss who did some surveying work as well. I just don't get it! How can a man with a pole figure out how high a spot is 50m away? Anyone who understands this is genius in my book!

Thanks to Flightless Boyds for this week's theme (it was good to have the choice of two).

This is...

My most treasured childhood possession:

Well when I was little my sister was a very important possession :) I am told that I would haul her out of her cot by the neck and say 'my baby', while giving her a kiss.
Now days she's taller than me and could pick me up by the neck! We're still great mates and I couldn't imagine my childhood without her.
Thanks to Teacups on Treetops for this week's theme.

Big one...

The weekend is almost over... several things to share:

I've decided to start doing 'this is'... as started by Three Buttons this week is best op shop/garage sale finds:
I got this at a garage sale for $5. I love it! My mum saw it when I brought it home and offered to buy it from me. Hah! Fat chance! This baby's mine! I don't have a picture of it but on both sides it has a pic of a large shell burned into it, with a name. So I think someone pulled apart some sort of produce box to make it. It looks pretty old though.

I also have another small find that I just think is really cute: I don't know why but I love this when I saw it. It's a tiny tree with a little Japanese table set under. It has a small bowl of fruit and a little pillow on top, with some cool shoes below. I just think it's divine.

Also: I finished one of the toys I am making to send to Bulgaria, to an orphanage

This is pretty much my first stuffed toy, but I'll get better. Promise. Yes that material does have little blue and purple boats all over it! So gorgeous.

I made something else, yet again for my sister. She was going to a masquerade ball and needed a mask. So I hastily knocked this up. Black velvet, mmmm.... She was going to curl the ribbons when she got home.

Yesterday we went outside, even though it was horribly cold and played around for a bit, I took some good shots as it was starting to get dark:J shows us all how dog training is done.

And some lovely photos of the winter sun set and my boys. The bottom right photo is possibly the best I've seen of Aussie Bob. Click to see a bigger pic.

Ok... I'm exhausted! Oh and a *Big* thank you to greenolive who gave me my first comment. Very exciting! Ta!
