Disappointment

I didn’t sell one single piece of jewellery at the market. Sad face :(

A few people came and had a good look and some took cards, but no buyers unfortunately.

I did sell a couple of headbands though, which was nice.

I’m not quite sure why people didn’t buy. Perhaps the price was too much (though I don’t know how cheap people think sterling silver should be!). Or maybe people just weren’t looking for that sort of thing.

I dunno.

I’m not going again anyway, it was absolutely stinking hot and the site I had wasn’t big enough to set up my shade tent. Actually I couldn’t have swung a cat in that tiny box! :)

Yesterday, deflated, I sent all the jewellery I had down to Melbourne with a friend, she’s hawking it to all her friends for me :) She was amazed that none sold at the market and declared that she could sell it in the blink of an eye!

I’m pretty sure she’ll be a much better saleswoman than I am. I’m happy to make things but selling them makes me squirm with embarrassment! What I love is making and just giving away… but that doesn’t allow for more buying of silver and my darling Hubby may kick up a fuss :)

I need to get up some guts and bravado and ‘represent’!

Anyone else out there a *maker* and not a *seller*?

Batten the hatches!

rain on the way

Here it comes! To tell the truth and am a bit nervous about the forecasted deluge. The river here is almost lapping the bottom of the bridges already and the levees haven’t been truly tested in a long time. Let’s hope they hold and if they don’t, that our house isn’t at the low end of town! :)

I have to drive to Bendigo on Sunday, just the kids and I. We’ll see if the roads are still passable, seeing as 2 weeks ago the water was almost over the road in at least 3 places. Fingers crossed!

Hope you’re on high ground!

Deluged and Breached!!

This is happening at my house right now

lightening

After so many long years of drought I fear we need to do some water proofing around the home. I sat down to my jewellery this evening and all of a sudden it was raining on my face. That definitely should NOT happen indoors.

rain leaking inside

I’m pretty sure rain is meant to be on the OUTSIDE of the glass. We like to do things differently here :)

So I’ve done all I could do… put some towels and buckets down.

There were a few very loud cracks of thunder so I went in to see if Aus was ok in bed (Noah could sleep through anything). He was busy watching the lightening out his window and when asked if he was ok, he yelled ‘Whoa did you see that one Mum!? That was so cool!’ So I left him to his lightening watching.

Then the lights went out. Thank god it was only for about 10 seconds, then they came back on. But I went to check on him again and he said ‘I’m only a little bit scared Mum’. So I assured him that if the lights go out again I will come straight to him. My big brave boy. (who incidentally doesn’t wear nappies to bed anymore! Yay!)

I’m off to snuggle in my big warm bed, guess we’ll assess the damage in the morning!

A neighborly problem...

We live in a street with lots of old(er) retired couples and they are all very nice. Sometimes a little bit too nice.
One in particular is a very genuine and lovely guy who's wife works away for a week at a time. I think since he knows Jem's away every week, he has taken it upon himself to take care of me a bit... or a lot.

3 times a day he knocks on the door for different reasons:

To bring the kids something,
To bring us food- soup or spagetti etc.,
To see if I'm ok or if I would like him to do something for me.

Usually the first time he knocks, I'm still in my pjs!

I know he's just looking after us but every time he comes there is at least a 20 minute conversation involved.

When I hear the knock all I can do is hope I've wiped this look off my face before I open it...

must you look

It's my 'oh no, must you?' look.

So here's where all you lovely bloggers with more life experience can tell me what to do about this little 'issue'. I don't want to hurt him because he really is a lovely guy... I just need him to back up a little bit :)

So please- advise away!
