Sweet success...

Sometimes, just once in a while, I make something that I am really pleased with. This happens to be one of those things...

finished table 4

It makes me happy to sit and work here in my cosy corner, where everything is up out of the reach of tiny fingers. I measured the cross bar underneath to my exact leg height so it's also the most comfy desk I've ever owned.

And, if I may say so, without sounding too pleased with myself, the finish is exactly what I wanted. The black marks around where old nails were, dents and slight warping. I love that it has a new life but still retains a used look.

And I think this is my favorite detail... see the indent from a bent over nail and the black holes where the old nails were?

finished table 3

It may not be everyone's cup of tea but to me, together with a few nick knacks and a couple of 50's magazines in frames, it's heaven :)

That is absolutely beautiful Kris. There's nothing better than a lovely glossy finish to bring out all the character of a piece of recycled timber.

Hi Kris
I love your table and your prints in the frames! I was very lucky to recieve a necklace hand made by yourself, it was a little while ago, I posted it on my blog a few posts ago. Thanks so much, I love it and the colours are perfect.
Thankyou so much
Jacqueline
